Cosmopolitan
Engineering Group was selected
for the predesign and design of the South Magnolia
Outfall Replacement Project for King County. The
project included construction of 870 linear feet
of 36-inch-diameter RCP outfall pipe to replace
two existing failed CSO outfalls. Two underwater
reconnaissance dives were performed to evaluate
the condition of the existing outfalls. After
the contract was awarded, the County decided to
fast track the project for construction in summer
1999. In order to meet the revised schedule, the
project was separated into pipe purchase and pipe
installation contracts, requiring preparation
of two separate sets of contract documents.
